My homemade lotion includes lavender, frankincense and peppermints oils, which smell great together and help reduce inflammation and improve the health of your skin. You can also add wild orange.Another great way to use lavender oil as a natural perfume is to add it to your shampoo or create your own. Our home uses Earth Science fragrance free shampoo & conditioner as our base. Or we buy the DoTERRA blends. If you love the lavender scent and aroma, go ahead and use it as a perfume! Lavender is native to the Mediterranean region in Europe. For the best aroma experience, make sure you’re buying a French Lavender product.Lavender grows in many other climates as well. But if you are looking for that unique, original flower scent aroma, go with the French Lavender.Apply lightly to your wrists or neck.Put a few drops on a wash cloth or natural cloth dryer ball and throw into the dryer with clothes. Non-Toxic Air FreshenerThe same way you use lavender oil as a perfume, you can use it around your home as a natural, toxic-free air freshener. Either spray it around your home, or try diffusing it.To create a relaxing atmosphere in your bedroom before you fall asleep, try spraying a lavender and water mixture directly onto your bedsheets or pillow.You can try the same method in your bathroom as well and also on your bath towels. Before taking a relaxing bath or shower, spray your towel with lavender so its calming scent is waiting for you when you step out of the shower.
ANTIOXIDANT PROTECTIIONFree radicals, like toxins, chemicals, and pollutants, are arguably the most dangerous and common risk factor for every disease affecting Americans today. Free radicals are responsible for shutting down your immune system and can cause unbelievable damage to your body.The body’s natural response to free radical damage is to create antioxidant enzymes — especially glutathione, catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD) — that stop these free radicals from doing their damage. Unfortunately, your body can actually become deficient in antioxidants if the free radical burden is great enough, which has become relatively common in the U.S. because of poor diet and high exposure to toxins.Thankfully, lavender is a natural antioxidant that works to prevent and reverse disease. Recommended by dermatologists, Lavender is one of the most beneficial essential oils to treat acne. Its antibacterial properties help regulate your hormones, as well as reduce scarring.Dilute several drops (2-4) of lavender with a carrier oil of your choice and apply it to your chosen area of skin to give it a general uplifting boost.If you have dry skin, apply the diluted mixture of lavender oil to that area especially.Add a few drops of pure lavender oil to your bath. The idea of using Lavender in baths originated in Persia, Greece, and Rome. Those places had some great kings and queens enjoying luxurious baths in historic times!
Lavender oil is excellent for preventing sunburns on the lips and also healing chapped, dried lips. Try adding a couple of drops of oil to shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil or another “carrier oil” and then rubbing it into your lips for protection whenever you will be in the sun.If you have a sunburn in other areas on your body, try using the same method to heal the skin more quickly and prevent itchiness and pealing that can result after a bad sun burn.
Lavender oil has shown positive results in treating hair loss in both men and women. It can help your hair growth as well as your hair quality. Further, you can use this oil to help kill head lice and lice eggs. When rubbed into your scalp, it can even help with dandruff problems. As an easy natural home remedy, lavender helps to keep your hair healthy and shiny! Mix in a drop of essential oil with your regular shampoo. Make a Lavender Hair Mask and apply once per week. Like your skin, nails, and cuticles, your hair needs maintenance. Excessive hair styling, poor grooming habits, or using chemically laden shampoos and conditioners diminishes your hair’s health. Hair masks are a natural way of nourishing, protecting, and moisturizing your hair. Think of it as a vitamin boost, bringing nutrients back to your roots to prevent breakage, frizz, and tangling. While you are meal-prepping for your week, prep for your hair care! If you have long hair / want extras, double the recipe, and you can leave it in your fridge in a glass jar for up to 1 week. All you need is a blender or a bowl and whisk. Combine Coconut oil and egg whites and blend. Add Essential Oils last and blend again until it has a smooth texture. Dampen your hair and spread it evenly throughout, especially the ends. Cover with a shower cap or towel. Leave in for 30 minutes. Wash out with a natural shampoo and conditioner. For best results, use once a week. Make sure you rinse your hair well after you use this DIY hair mask, especially if you have oily or greasy hair. Let your hair air dry, or use heat products like curlers or straighteners. The hair mask provided also acts as natural heat protection! Your hair should feel silky and softer, smelling lightly of Lavender. If you don’t love the smell of Lavender, combine other Essential Oils, like Lemon or Geranium, for a summery scent. Why these Ingredients? Coconut oil is a multi-usage natural product. Coconut oil is high in fatty acids, drenching your hair and scalp with moisture. Other carrier oils, like jojoba and olive oil, have similar benefits. Combining your oils with egg whites will give your hair another boost. Egg whites are high in proteins to strengthen hair and help prevent and repair split ends. The egg will also help bind all the other ingredients, allowing for an even easier application. Finally, with its soothing aroma and countless benefits, Lavender essential oil is a fantastic addition to your hair care routine. It provides a relaxing aromatherapy scent, and Lavender is also used for hair growth! All-natural ingredients are a safe and effective way to care for your hair and body’s health. It’s better for the earth and our environment than chemically created products.Extra TipEveryone’s hair is different, so don’t be afraid to test and try different ingredients. A few hair mask favorite ingredients are Avocados, since they are full of Vitamin B & E to protect hair, or honey, which is antibacterial and seals in all the moisture of your carrier oil. Rosemary Essential Oil is another oil that can help hair growth, scalp irritation, and dryness. Of course, use precaution with everything we place on our bodies, always avoid contact with your eyes, and if there is any irritation, stop usage.
ESSENTIAL OIL INFUSED SUGAR SCRUBS
Simple to make, classic sugar scrubs are a must-have item for your skin-care routine. They not only help remove dead skin cells, improve circulation, unclog pores, and prevent ingrown hairs, but they also leave your skin feeling soft and smooth — a necessary tool during the cold winter months. You can use a sugar scrub one or two times each week. For sensitive skin, you’ll want to watch how your skin reacts and perhaps exfoliate less often.
Brown Sugar Rose Body Scrub
You Will Need
• Bowl
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1 cup (rose-infused optional) floral essential oil in almond oil
• 5 drops frankincense essential oil
• Spoon
• Airtight jar
To Make
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Pour the brown sugar body scrub into an airtight jar, and store in a cool, dry place for about three months.
Citrus Brown Sugar Body Scrub

• 1 cup granulated sugar
• ½ cup brown sugar
• ½ cup jojoba oil
• 2 TB. vitamin E oil
• 2 TB. citrus-scented Castile soap
• Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
• 20 drops tangerine essential oil
• 20 drop grapefruit essential oil
• Spoon
• Airtight container
To Make
In a bowl, mix all ingredients together until fully incorporated. Store in an airtight container. If using lemon zest, this scrub will expire more quickly because the ingredients are fresh. To use, apply a small amount to wet skin and gently exfoliate. Wash away with warm water. Best if used in the shower. This project is not intended for the face.
Eucalyptus Body Scrub
You Will Need
• Bowl
• ¼ cup organic virgin coconut oil, melted
• 8 drops eucalyptus essential oil
• ½ cup organic fine sugar
• Spoon
• Airtight glass jar
To Make
In a bowl, add the coconut oil, eucalyptus essential oil, and sugar, and mix everything together with a spoon until fully incorporated. Transfer the scrub to an airtight glass jar. To use, apply the scrub with your hands in circular motions all over your body while in the shower. Rinse off with warm water.
Oat & Chamomile Body Scrub
You Will Need
• 3 TB. rolled oats
• Mortar & pestle
• Bowl
• 5 drops chamomile essential oil
• 3 TB. organic sweet almond oil
• Spoon
• ⅓ cup organic sugar
• Airtight glass jar
To Make
Break up the oats into smaller pieces with a mortar and pestle. In a separate bowl, combine the chamomile essential oil with the sweet almond oil. Add the oats and sugar, and mix everything together with a spoon or your hands until fully combined. Transfer the scrub to an airtight glass jar. To use, apply the scrub with your hands in circular motions all over your body while in the shower. Rinse off with warm water.

It’s completely edible, but you will want to use a very small amount since the taste is very powerful.You’ll also want to purchase only a high-quality, 100 percent pure grade oil from a reputable company.Try adding 1–2 drops to your recipes for a surprising flavor booster. It’s is said to pair perfectly with things like dark cocoa, pure honey, lemon, cranberries, balsamic vinaigrette, black pepper and apples.
In 2014, scientists from Tunisia set out to complete a fascinating task: to test the effects of lavender on blood sugar to see if it can help reverse diabetes naturally.During the 15-day animal study, the results observed by researchers were absolutely amazing. In a nutshell, lavender essential oil treatment protected the body from the following diabetes symptoms:Increased blood glucose (the hallmark of diabetes)Metabolic disorders (especially fat metabolism)Weight gainLiver and kidney antioxidant depletionLiver and kidney dysfunctionLiver and kidney lipoperoxidation (when free radicals “steal” necessary fat molecules from cell membranes)Although more research is needed to understand the full capacity of lavender for the prevention or reversal of diabetes, the results of this study are promising and indicate the therapeutic potential of the plant extract. To use it for diabetes, use it topically on your neck and chest, diffuse it at home, or supplement with it.Improves Mood and Reduces StressIn recent years, lavender oil has been put on a pedestal for its unique ability to protect against neurological damage. Traditionally, lavender has been used to treat neurological issues like migraines, stress, anxiety and depression, so it’s exciting to see that the research is finally catching up to history.
There are several studies showing the plant’s effects on stress and anxiety levels. A study from 2019 found that inhaling Lavandula is one of the most powerful anxiolytic oils, as it reduces peri-operative anxiety and can be considered a potential sedative for patients undergoing surgical procedures and anesthesia.In 2013, an evidence-based study published by the International Journal of Psychiatry in Clinical Practice found that supplementing with 80-milligram capsules of lavender essential oil help alleviate anxiety, sleep disturbance and depression. Additionally, in the study there were no adverse side effects, drug interactions or withdrawal symptoms from using lavender oil.The International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology published a human study in 2014 that revealed that Silexan (otherwise known as lavender oil preparation) was more effective against generalized anxiety disorder than placebos and the prescription medicine paroxetine. After treatment, the study found zero instances of withdrawal symptoms or adverse side effects.Another study published in 2012 involved 28 high-risk postpartum women and noted that by diffusing lavender in their homes, they had a significant reduction of postnatal depression and reduced anxiety disorder after a four-week treatment plan of aromatherapy.Lavender has also been shown to improve PTSD symptoms. Eighty milligrams of lavender oil per day helped decrease depression by 33 percent and dramatically decrease sleep disturbances, moodiness and overall health status in 47 people suffering from PTSD, as shown in a phase two trial published in Phytomedicine.To relieve stress and improve sleep, put a diffuser by your bed, and diffuse oils while you sleep at night or in the family room while you’re reading or winding down in the evening. You can also use it topically behind your ears for similar results.
A 2012 study published in the African Journal of Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicines shows that aromatherapy, particularly using lavender oil, helps patients with cancer cope with stress, nausea, chronic pain, and depression. Because lavender oil works to stimulate the immune system, boost mood, improve sleep and fight stress, it can be used as a therapeutic agent.Massaging lavender oil into the back of your neck, chest, wrists and temples can induce relaxing and calming effects. If you are experiencing muscle or joint pain, or pain at the site of injections, apply two to three drops of lavender to the affected area.To relieve stress and anxiety, and improve sleep, diffuse lavender, or inhale it directly from the bottle. This can be particularly useful before and after surgical procedures and chemotherapy treatment.
